The morning sun cast a harsh light through the cracked window of Jun-soo's apartment, stirring him from a surprisingly restful sleep. He sat up, groggy but not hungover for once, and rubbed his eyes. The events of the previous day came rushing back, and he couldn't help but chuckle at the memory of the baby sky whale and the baby dragon causing delightful chaos in his home.

He was about to get up and start his usual routine of searching for odd jobs when he heard a soft commotion outside his door. He glanced at the clock – it was 9 a.m. sharp. His heart skipped a beat. Could it be...?

He shuffled over to the door, not wanting to get his hopes up, but a part of him couldn't help but feel a flicker of excitement. He peered through the peephole and saw the familiar figures of Thor and Lira, their bodies vibrant against the drab backdrop of the apartment building's hallway.

Thor, determined to announce their arrival properly, gathered her strength and attempted to mimic the impressive double-knock she had seen Jun-soo perform. She reared back on her haunches and lunged at the door with both paws. However, her aim was slightly off, and instead of hitting the door, she ended up face-planting into it with a soft 'oof'.

Lira, watching Thor's comical blunder, let out a series of musical notes that closely resembled laughter. She floated over to assist, gently nudging Thor aside with her snout. With a graceful flick of her pectoral fins, she managed to create a small gust of wind that tapped against the door, a knock in its own right.

Jun-soo, on the other side of the door, couldn't contain his laughter. The absurdity of his current situation – a drunkard living in squalor, laughing at the antics of a baby sky whale and a baby dragon outside his apartment – was not lost on him. But the joy these creatures brought him was genuine, and he found himself eager to let them in.

He opened the door to reveal Thor, rubbing her snout and looking slightly embarrassed, and Lira, hovering nearby with a look of triumph on her face. "Well, well, well," Jun-soo said, grinning from ear to ear. "If it isn't my favorite troublemakers. Come to brighten up my day again?"

Thor, recovering from her knocking mishap, puffed out a tiny flame in response, her eyes twinkling with mischief. Lira, pleased with herself, floated into the apartment, her body casting a soft, blue glow on the dingy surroundings.

Jun-soo stepped aside to let them in, his heart filled with an emotion he hadn't felt in years – genuine happiness. It seemed that his life, once defined by despair and hopelessness, had been forever changed by the arrival of these magical beings. And as they filled his apartment with laughter and light, he knew that no matter what happened, he would always look forward to the sound of their failed attempts at knocking.

아침 햇살이 준수의 아파트 창문 틈으로 따가운 빛을 비추며 의외로 편안하게 잠들어 있던 그를 깨웠다. 그는 숙취는 아니지만 졸린 눈을 비비며 일어났다. 전날 있었던 일들이 주마등처럼 스쳐 지나갔고, 아기 하늘고래와 아기 용이 집안을 유쾌한 소동으로 만들었던 기억에 그는 웃음을 참지 못했다.

그는 일어나서 평소처럼 이상한 일자리를 찾는 일과를 시작하려고 할 때 문 밖에서 부드러운 소음이 들렸습니다. 그는 시계를 흘끗 보았는데 오전 9시 정각이었습니다. 심장이 두근거렸습니다. 혹시...?

그는 희망을 품고 싶지 않은 마음에 서둘러 문으로 다가갔지만, 마음 한구석에서는 설렘이 일렁이는 것을 어쩔 수 없었습니다. 틈새로 들여다본 토르와 리라의 익숙한 모습이 아파트 복도의 칙칙한 배경을 배경으로 생생하게 살아 움직이는 모습을 보았습니다.

토르는 그들의 도착을 제대로 알리기로 결심하고 힘을 모아 준수에게 보았던 인상적인 두 번 노크 동작을 따라 하려고 했습니다. 토르는 허리를 세우고 두 발로 문을 향해 돌진했습니다. 하지만 조준이 약간 빗나갔고, 문에 부딪히는 대신 '욱'하는 소리와 함께 문에 얼굴을 박고 말았습니다.

토르의 코믹한 실수를 지켜보던 리라는 웃음소리와 비슷한 음을 연달아 내뱉었습니다. 리라는 주둥이로 토르를 옆으로 살짝 밀어내며 도와주려고 다가왔습니다. 가슴 지느러미를 우아하게 튕기며 문을 두드리는 작은 돌풍을 일으켰고, 그 자체로 노크 소리를 냈습니다.

문 반대편에 있던 준수는 웃음을 참을 수 없었다. 술주정뱅이인 자신이 처한 상황, 즉 아파트 밖에서 아기 하늘고래와 아기 용의 장난을 보며 웃고 있는 상황의 부조리함은 그에게도 잊혀지지 않았습니다. 하지만 이 동물들이 그에게 가져다준 기쁨은 진심이었기에 그는 동물들을 집으로 들여보내고 싶다는 생각을 하게 되었습니다.

그가 문을 열자 주둥이를 문지르며 약간 부끄러운 표정을 짓고 있는 토르와 승리의 표정을 지으며 근처를 맴돌고 있는 리라가 모습을 드러냈습니다. "이런, 이런, 이런." 준수가 입가에 미소를 지으며 말했다. "내가 제일 좋아하는 말썽꾸러기가 아닌가?  또 내 하루를 밝게 해주러 오셨어요?"

노크 사고에서 회복한 토르는 장난기 가득한 눈빛으로 작은 불꽃을 뿜어내며 화답했습니다. 리라는 만족스러운 표정으로 아파트 안으로 들어왔고, 그녀의 몸은 칙칙한 주변을 은은하고 푸른 빛으로 비췄다.

준수는 몇 년 동안 느껴보지 못한 진정한 행복이라는 감정이 가슴을 가득 채우자 한 발짝 물러서서 그들을 들여보냈습니다. 절망과 절망으로 가득했던 그의 삶이 이 마법 같은 존재의 등장으로 영원히 바뀐 것 같았습니다. 그리고 그들이 그의 아파트를 웃음과 빛으로 가득 채우자, 그는 무슨 일이 있어도 그 둘의 실패한 노크 소리를 항상 기대할 것이라는 것을 알았습니다.
