See, there are not many developed countries where people do not speak English at all.
We can use English in USA, UK, Canada, Australia, etc. And these are one of the largest and powerful countries in the world.
And also, many european languages share many words, grammars, and most importantly, alphabet.
That means that if we can use English, it will be easy to learn other languages too.
But, compared to English, Japanese and Chinese are only used in eastern Asia. And there are almost no other languages which share any grammars or alphabet.
So, the conclusion is that, English is important.
